Q. What inspired you to write a book about writing, publishing and marketing?

A. My goal is to help new voices achieve publication. I wanted to share my expertise with a wider range of writers, giving them the benefit of my 25 years of esperience in the publishing field.

Q. What advice do you have for writers with writer's block?

A. To write! Even if what comes out at first is gibberish, the very act of writing things down will grease one's creative wheels. It also helps to make a contract with oneself to devote a specific amount of time each day to the writing process, and to allow no other activities during that time frame..

Q. What is the name of your publishing company?

A. A Cappela Publishing, Inc.

Q. What services do you provide for author?

A. A Cappela is a one-stop-shop for authors. We work with authors from concept through successful publication. We can begin by helping a writer crystalize his/her topic and determine if a market exists for it. From there we can coach the writer through the first draft; edit it, and then either direct the author to a literary agent or, if the author wish to self-publish, we can take the manuscript and turn it into a book. We'll also do the marketing and put the author in touch with the major distributors. For authors who have completed their first drafts, we offer critiques to let them know if the work is up to publishable standards and suggest the best publishing approach (major publishing house; self-publishing, Print on Demand, e-book, etc.) And for those with a great idea for a book but no time to write it, we also offfer ghostwriting services.

Q. Does one take your Book Promotion classes online?

A. Yes. Book Promotion is one of 17 online classes offered through our website, www.acappela.com.

Q. What other course do you teach?

A. Online I teach 17 classes in all - each one relating to one or another aspect of writing, marketing or publishing and showing how these three aspects combine to spell either success or failure for a book.In addition to the online classes, I do seminars for the University of South Florida's Senior Academy and the Sarasota County School Board. I also conduct a weekly class for exceptional writers, which is by invitation only.

Q. How long did it take you to write EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW TO WRITE PUBLISH & MARKET YOUR BOOK?

A. Only six weeks -- but that's because I already had all the material, gathered from my seminars and weekly writing classes. I immersed myself in the writing for the entire six weeks, so that it was nearly a 24-hour-a-day process.

Q. Are you currently writing another book?

A. Since Write Publish & Market (WP&M) I've created two audiobooks. I chose this medium so that busy people could listen while drivng here and there. The Writer's Tool Box is the sequel to WP&M and How to Write Your Own Life Story (or Your Family's Saga) guides people through the writing of their memoirs, autobiographies or family history -- even if they've never before written anything. I'm busy at the moment producing other people's books. But I have a file on my computer of parts to be included in future books -- as soon as I find time to write them!

Q. What message would you like readers to receive from reading EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW TO WRITE PUBLISH & MARKET YOUR BOOK?

A. I'd like writers to understand the mechanics of good writing, and to know how to write for their intended audiences. These two factors alone can determine whether or not a book achieves publication. My goal is to help writers develop their craft and to achieve publication.
