A. One thing I've learned over the years is that people are not always what they appear to be.
My mother told me once that, "sometimes your best friends can be your worst enemies."
There were signs all over the place that Jade was not a true friend to Annette, but Annette chose to ignore those signs.
Based upon all the email I have received about this book a lot of people have been in a similar situation on some level.
A. It's part of my GOD DON'T LIKE UGLY series so I wanted to use a title that would be close to that.
I had already used GOD STILL DON'T LIKE UGLY and GDLU Part 3 didn't move me. This seemed to be the best choice.
The next book in this series will be GOD AIN'T BLIND.
A. Jade is a sign of the times. The story is set in the mid-nineties. Back then
(and even more so now) we don't have to look too far to find young girls who are as self-centered, deceitful, evil, vain, and as
vicious as Jade. Sadly, some of the girls I've met along the way make Jade look look like a cherub.
A. When a woman feels neglected and taken for granted by her husband she usually looks for attention elsewhere.
Not only was Bully handsome and sexy, he was already among Rhoda's circle of friends before the affair so he was convenient.
Rhoda didn't have to go too far to find what she needed.
A. Not the NEXT book. My next book, DELIVER ME FROM EVIL, will feature all new characters and will be released
September 1, 2007.
A. There will be a book in the future where Annette's daughter, Charlotte, will have a major role. But Annette
and Rhoda will be the main characters. That book, GOD AIN'T BLIND, will pick up where GOD DON'T PLAY left off. Jade will flunk out
of college then return to town to stir up some more mess in Annette's life. But this time Annette will give her the whupping she
should have received a long time ago. Also, Annette will slide into an affair with a younger man who is not what he appears to be.
A. In my next book, DELIVER ME FROM EVIL, a desperate housewife arranges her own kidnapping. She is convinced
that this is the only way she can get away from a dead-end marriage and some in-laws from hell. But her plan backfires when her
accomplice (an old boyfriend) gets greedy and decides to make it a real kidnapping.
A. This is a dream that took me several decades to fulfill. The prestige does not get any better than this.
I printed the NY Times on-line page with my name on the list and framed it. From this point on the book cover of every book I
publish will display this information--even if I never make the list again.
A. NEVER forget that SOME people are not what they appear to be. If it walks, talks, acts, and smells like a
duck, it probably is a duck. Watch out for the people who are supposed to be watching out for you...
